Day 1: Arrival at the Desert Ecolodge & Introduction to the Expedition

Welcome to Fayoum Oasis

Departing Cairo, we journey toward the Fayoum Oasis, where the desert landscape begins to unfold. Upon arrival at our desert ecolodge, we enjoy breakfast before a welcome briefing covering the expedition route, vehicles, and safety procedures. The day continues with an accelerated desert driving course, providing participants with the essential knowledge and skills needed for safe and confident driving in the desert.

Day 2: Into the Fossil Lands

Into the Desert

Get your first taste of desert driving behind the wheel through the sweeping sands of Qusoor El Arab, guided by expedition leaders as you learn to handle your vehicle across varied terrain. The journey continues to the Valley of the Whales (Wadi Al Hitan), a UNESCO World Heritage Site showcasing fossils millions of years old, before ending the day at our ecolodge where you settle in for a peaceful night in the desert. Remarks: mixed sandy terrain and gravel roads, 70–90 km off-road driving.

Day 3: Desert Mastery Through Sands & Recovery Skills

Complex Dunes

Today the adventure deepens as you take your vehicle into softer sands, complex dunes, and more challenging desert terrain en route to the Samuel Dunes. Under the guidance of expedition leaders, you will take part in a mini off-roading course, gaining hands-on experience in advanced desert driving, vehicle recovery, and safe dune traversal—essential skills for any off-road explorer. The day ends back at our ecolodge with a warm dinner and rest. Remarks: soft sand terrain and desert dunes, 50–60 km off-road driving. Prepare to dig.

Day 4: Journey to Bahariya Oasis & Deeper into the Western Desert

Desert Driving Skills Unlocked

After breakfast, we begin our on-road journey toward Bahariya Oasis, the gateway to deeper exploration of Egypt’s Western Desert. Throughout the day, we venture into the Black Desert, the shimmering Crystal Mountain, and the dramatic landscapes of Agabat, with time to explore these unique formations before setting up our first desert camp of the expedition—an unforgettable night surrounded by towering rock structures and open sky. Remarks: approximately 300 km on-road and 60–80 km off-road driving.

Day 5: The Road to the White Desert

Welcome To The Moon

After breakfast, the team packs up camp and begins the journey toward the legendary White Desert, where surreal chalk formations sculpted by wind and time create a landscape that feels like the surface of the moon. Upon arrival, we explore the area before setting up camp for the night—an unforgettable experience under a blanket of stars in one of the most magical places on Earth. Remarks: approximately 300 km on-road and 60–80 km off-road driving.

Day 6: Journey to Qarawin Dunes & Djarra Cave

The Mysterious Djarra Cave

After breakfast, we depart the White Desert and begin our journey toward the vast Qarawin Dunes, navigating varied desert terrain and driving challenges along the way. We continue toward the remote and historic Djarra Cave, a hidden landmark deep within the Western Desert, before pushing onward to Abu Meharaq—one of the most iconic dune systems in the region—where we set up our final desert camp under the open sky. Remarks: approximately 160 km on-road and part of 150–200 km off-road driving over the two days.

DAY 07: Return to the city

The End of the Journey

We wake up in the desert, pack camp, and begin our final crossing through the dunes toward the asphalt road. From there, we meet our transfer vehicle for the journey back to Cairo, marking the end of the expedition. Remarks: continuation of off-road driving and transfer back to Cairo; accommodation in Cairo not included (recommendations available upon request).
